Successful in many of his previous endeavors like the U.S. Navy, Postal Service, and business owner, Mike decided it was time to figure out what he wanted to be when he grew up. Choosing to further his education at Doña Ana Community College and pursue his artistic passions from childhood he earned his AAS degree in Creative Media Technology. From a young age he wore out many a sketchpad attempting to create the appearance of three dimensional objects on paper. Later, he was steered towards carving wood figures which satisfied the need to able to work all the way around a figure. Today, he is passionate about 3D modeling, having found a medium that fulfills that desire.
Mike Huseman is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. At age 18 he decided to pursue a career as a Law Enforcement Officer. Lacking experience for the position, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy to obtain the training he needed. After serving 4 years in the U.S. Navy, he went to work for the Lovington, New Mexico Police Department. Successful in his new career, he missed traveling to new places, and benefits associated with military life. He returned to the Navy, making it a career, eventually retiring in 2004 after 22 years of service.
After leaving the Navy, he started work as a Clerk at the Lowell, OH Post Office, and quickly moved up as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Chesterhill, Ohio Post Office. Due to Family illness during 2007, he resigned from the Postal Service, and moved back to Albuquerque to provide for elderly family members who needed assistance in the latter years of their life.
It was then, that Mike started “Fishy Business”, designing, installing pond and water features, and providing maintenance for customers in the Albuquerque area until 2013 when he moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico where he helped a local pet store establish their own pond and aquatics department.
